The Anteojos bear is a real Peruvian black bear. The name means "glasses" in Spanish and our bear certainly looks like he's wearing white frames on his shiny black head. The "spectacled bear", Tremarctos ornatus, is an endangered species because of loss of habitat. This reclusive animal is an excellent climber and can be found in high tree branches where it eats fruits and bromeliads. The anteojos black bear sleeps on nest-like platforms it builds from leaves and branches.
